F.A.Q's
What kind of issues does Counselling and Psychotherapy help with?
Counselling and psychotherapy can help with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, low self-esteem, stress, and beyond.
What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?
While the terms are often used interchangeably, counselling tends to be more short-term and focuses on specific issues, such as managing difficult life events. Psychotherapy is usually a longer-term process that delves deeper into underlying patterns, experiences and feelings.
What is Integrative or Pluralistic Therapy?
Integrative or pluralistic therapy offers a flexible, collaborative approach that blends different therapeutic models to fit your unique needs. This type of therapy includes techniques from Person-Centred, humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), and others. Rather than sticking to one method, we work together to find the strategies that benefit you most emotionally, mentally and practically.
This approach respects your preferences, experiences, and goals, shaping a therapy experience that is deeply personal, empowering, and effective.
How Many Sessions will I need?
The length of therapy depends on your individual needs. Typically, I suggest a minimum of six sessions to create meaningful change, though some people attend fewer sessions while others opt for longer-term support. We’ll regularly review your progress and work together to find a pace and plan that feels right and manageable for you.
What kind of counselling does Mend Counselling and Psychotherapy Services offer?
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just want to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can provide a supportive space to explore what’s happening and find a path forward. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from support. I offer various approaches tailored to where you are and what your goals may be. Whether you’re feeling ‘stuck’ or seeking to understand your behaviours, we can work together to explore and make the meaningful changes you want to achieve.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, everything you share during sessions is confidential, with a few legal exceptions that I will clearly explain when we start working together.
What if I don’t know what I need help with?
That’s absolutely okay. You don’t need to have all the answers—we’ll explore what’s going on together, taking things at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
